Repair Before Rupture book cover

Can a democracy repair its constitutional machinery before political strain becomes rupture?

Repair Before Rupture approaches constitutional reform as an exercise in institutional design rather than manifesto. It begins by separating what continues to function well in the United States Constitution from structural problems involving separation of powers, political representation, presidential authority, the Supreme Court, and the amendment process.

The manuscript then moves from diagnosis to design. Ten proposed structural amendments, a framework for twenty-first-century rights, and a program of formal repeals are tested against constitutional mechanisms drawn from seven peer democracies—not to import other political cultures, but to examine whether particular institutional solutions can survive transplantation into the American system.

Finally, the proposed charter is stress-tested against disputed elections, executive overreach, emergencies, extremism, political deadlock, war, and attacks on the information environment.

The result is a complete proposed Constitution organized around three principles: political equality, accountable power, and adaptive resilience—with the compromises and remaining vulnerabilities made explicit rather than hidden.
