Weapons of Mass Distraction

We no longer need armies.

The weapons are quieter now, more efficient, and the targets load them themselves.

First, we manufacture the outrage. Forty-eight hours, perhaps seventy-two — enough to displace whatever question was becoming inconvenient.

Celebrity. Scandal. Campus. Flag. Anthem. Merchandise. The spectacle is seasonal. The forgetting is permanent.

We then fragment the audience. Segment by grievance. Optimize by fear. Neighbors become suspects. Family dinners become casualties.

The algorithm understands what keeps them clicking. Rage. Humiliation. Certainty. We feed it back. The loop sustains itself.

No formal request necessary. Citizens now file real-time reports on friends, coworkers, relatives — voluntarily, enthusiastically, at no additional cost.

A population unable to determine truth will hand judgment to the loudest available voice and call it conviction.

No further deployment necessary.

The populace has become both the target and the weapon.

Compliance exceeds projections. No significant resistance detected. This concludes the briefing.
